The newspaper is reporting that the hospital will pay $5.38 million to settle the claims against it, though the hospital denies any wrongdoing. An attorney for the hospital said during a court hearing that about 11,000 people are affected by the settlement and some current and former employees could be compensated for damages, including overpayments.

The suit alleged that the hospital selected a network in which it had a stake because it would provide the greatest reimbursement and would help ensure other large networks did not gain additional market share, according to the newspaper. Such actions violated their responsibilities under the federal Employee Retirement Income Security Act, according to the lawsuit.
